Pleasant View’s activity calendar is always full! Participation in activities is a great way for residents to get to know one another. The Life Enrichment Center is located just off of Town Square. Our Life Enrichment Center encompasses more than just one area. We have a wonderful Library for our residents which includes large print books, audio/visual formats. We have hundreds of DVD’s and several DVD players. Residents can pull up a comfy chair and read their favorite book in front of the fireplace and feel like they are at home. Our Library includes computers with internet access for our residents; as well as table and chairs to work on their favorite puzzle.
We have a separate main activity area where our residents have painting classes 3 times a week. We do weekly craft projects for our residents to enjoy and in the future, we will have monthly a monthly Cooking Club where our residents can bake bread or a fresh batch of their favorite cookies. Our residents also enjoy a little pampering with weekly “Glamour Hour”. Ladies and gentlemen alike can have their nails done by our activities staff.
The Harbors neighborhood especially enjoys their weekly Tea Parties with their beautiful teacups and teapots. The Harbor Ladies especially love their monthly flower arranging.
Let’s not forget our very popular Monday Cookie Social. Residents get together for cookies and coffee while visiting with their friends. Our department hosts a monthly Birthday Party for all residents celebrating their birthday that month. Birthday cards, balloons and cake/cookies for all to enjoy.
Another exciting addition for our residents is our weekly live entertainment on Fridays. We are always looking for new and different entertainment. We have a Baby Grand Piano located in Town Square and our residents all love and engage in the live entertainment we provide them. We have many acts come through our doors; Piano and Accordion players, singing groups, Country/ Western Bands, Gospel Music entertainment, Church Youth groups, Polka Dancers, Magician and much, much, more.
Each of our residents has an individualized activity plan and has a full-time activity aide assigned to implement these. Residents can enjoy not only these activities but in each neighborhood they have smaller activity areas; perfect for playing cards, board games, and puzzles. We have cozy sitting area’s for families to sit with their loved ones while visiting.
Pleasant View believes that having access to animal contact can have a powerful impact on residents. We currently have two cats, Oreo and Buddy, who live in our facility. Pleasant View also encourages pet visits as long as the animals are properly vaccinated, with records on file with the activities director, and are leashed and controlled at all times by their owners.
Pleasant View welcomes volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the activities director. Volunteers can visit with residents, help with activities such as painting and crafting, or even just reading to residents. Willingness and enthusiasm are more important than talent and skill!
