Billing

Bills are sent out monthly on a monthly basis, following a prescribed procedure. If you are having difficulties with applications for Medicaid or insurance benefits, see our billing specialist. She can assist you in obtaining medical eligibility or insurance benefits. All of your financial information is kept confidential. For any questions about your bill, call Kelly Knieper, billing specialist, Ext. 537.

Medicaid Eligibility

Medicaid is a State of Michigan program to assist with expenses for those that are unable to afford nursing home care. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services determines financial eligibility for Medicaid. You must complete application forms to determine eligibility, and more applications to plan use of your assets while providing nursing home care for your spouse. Some residents wait too long to apply for assistance. Discuss your concerns with Kelly Knieper, billing specialist, as soon as you become aware of your financial status. Also notify Kelly when you apply because of the lag time for the state to notify Pleasant View of a change in your payment program. A timely phone call can prevent delays.

Payments

Payments are accepted during regular business hours Monday – Friday 8 a.m. thru 4 p.m., or they can be placed in the drop box in the lobby area or mailed. The receptionist will provide a numbered receipt and record the payment.

Trust Fund

Residents may manage their own finances. We offer a trust fund service for convenience for beauty and barber services, vending machines, or other personal needs. Trust fund money is accessible during office hours in the business office and on the Safe havens unit when the business office is closed. Cash is difficult to trace. Some residents use their own lock box to store valuables and cash. These help deter theft and provide safekeeping for valuables.

If the resident has an active trust fund account, they will be able to withdraw funds from our petty cash fund when the business office is closed, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Maximum withdrawal is $50.00.

Please see Kelly Knieper, Ext. 537 about our trust fund program.
